Tania Chin quoted in The Straits Times: “Money mules in scam cases should get jail time starting from 6 months, recommends advisory panel”

Tania Chin was quoted in The Straits Times by Ang Qing.
The article detailed the new guidelines issued by the Sentencing Advisory Panel for offences, including handing over personal banking or Singpass accounts to criminals to commit crimes (p. A1).
Tania was quoted saying the guidelines will hopefully provide greater clarity and consistency when those charged with the offences are sentenced. As judges are encouraged to provide reasons for not applying a relevant guideline, it is likely that the guidelines will be adopted, excluding exceptional cases.
The article was syndicated on Singapore Law Watch on 22 August.
