Stefanie Yuen Thio mentioned in The Straits Times: “Singapore appoints SMU law prof, veteran lawyer as reps to Asean human rights body”

Stefanie Yuen Thio was mentioned in The Straits Times in an article by Lok Jian Wen. The article covered the appointment of SMU law professor Eugene Tan’s and Stefanie’s appointment as Singapore’s representatives at the Asean Intergovernmental Commission on Human Rights (AICHR).
The article reported that Stefanie, as Alternate Representative, will represent Singapore in Prof Tan’s absence, and that Ministry of Foreign Affairs is confident that the representatives will continue to advance the Republic’s strong engagement through the AICHR. It also mentions that Stef is a practising lawyer of “31 years and counting”, and that she is also the chairperson of SG Her Empowerment (SHE) and was recently appointed to Monetary Authority of Singapore’s Corporate Governance Advisory Committee. Both Stefanie and Prof Tan are alumni of NUS.
Chinese daily Lianhe Zaobao also published an article by Diana Chia Hui Ping on Prof Tan and Stefanie’s appointments.
