Adrian Tan’s posthumous book, If I Were King of Singapore, was reviewed on The Straits Times by Shawn Hoo.
In the 11 May review of recent books by Singapore authors, titled “Singapore Shelf: Pioneers and Port Cities”, Adrian was described as having “a way with popular writing genres that few other Singaporean writers can lay claim to”.
In a fuller review on 12 May, the writer noted that Adrian’s book “reads as a peculiar time capsule of the past few years, even as many issues he raised continue to be contentious today”.
