Executive Director
Choon King heads the team handling ship finance and corporate/transactional shipping work. He has been involved in shipping law throughout his legal career and has more than a decade of experience in both contentious and non-contentious shipping work. Prior to joining the firm in 2007, he was instrumental in setting up a ship finance team at a large Singapore law firm and his current team is one of the premier teams handling ship finance matters in Singapore.
Choon King was a keen rugby player in his school days. He is now an avid golfer, playing off a 13 handicap. His interest in these sports has instilled in him the importance of determination, endurance, accuracy and mental strength, attributes which he believes are of critical importance in the practice of law. He pays attention to detail even in the midst of punishing deadlines and is always mindful of getting the deal done in the time that it needs to get done.

Notable Transactions
- Lenders' counsel in US$175 million loan to PetroVietnam Transportation Corporation to finance the acquisition of 3 tankers to be used at the Dung Quat Oil Refinery in Vietnam.
- Singapore banks' counsel (incl ING, Nordea and Fortis Bank) in a US$300 million loan involving some 15 borrowers.
- Singapore counsel to State Bank of India and bank syndicate in a US$1 billion credit facility for financing the 4,000 megawatt "ultra mega power plant" project in Mundra, India. Transaction shortlisted as a finalist in the "Project Finance Deal of the Year" category in the 2009 Asian Legal Business Southeast Asia Law Awards.
- Acted for DBS Bank in financing the US$100 million acquisition by the Titan Group of a NOL subsidiary, involving 20 vessels.
- Singapore counsel for Fortis Bank in US$450 million post-delivery financing to the Odfjell Group for chemical tankers.
