| | |  | Tan Cheng Han SC Consultant | | | |  | Professor Tan Cheng Han is currently the Dean of the Faculty of Law, National University of Singapore, where he teaches Company Law, Contract Law and the Law of Agency. He has been a Visiting Professor at Peking University and the East China University of Politics and Law, and a Consultant and Instructor to the John F Kennedy School of Government’s Vietnam Programme.
Prior to joining NUS in 1996, he was a Partner in one of the largest local litigation firms in Singapore. As an advocate, he specialises in commercial disputes. He is also a member of the Singapore International Arbitration Centre's Regional Panel of Arbitrators. He was appointed Senior Counsel in 2004 and in August 2006 he was appointed a Specialist Judge.
Some of Professor Tan’s previous public appointments include being a member of the Corporate Finance Committee, Financial Sector Review Group and the Advisory Panel to the former Registry of Companies and Businesses. His current public appointments include:
Vice-President of the Singapore Academy of Law Senate member of the National University of Singapore Governor of the Intellectual Property Academy Member of the Securities Industry Council Member of the Competition Commission of Singapore Member of the Appeal Advisory Panel to the Minister for Finance constituted under the Securities and Futures Act, the Financial Advisers Act, and the Insurance Act Member of the Military Court of Appeal Member of the Board of Legal Education.
Professor Tan also serves on many professional and university committees. He is also a director of various listed companies.
In January 2005, he was selected by the World Economic Forum as one of 3 Young Global Leaders from Singapore and in 2006, he was awarded the Public Administration Medal (Silver) in Singapore’s 41st National Day celebrations.EMAIL:
