Melvin Chan joined TSMP in January 2006 after having spent over 6 years in one of the leading litigation firms in Singapore. His main area of practice is in civil and commercial litigation, encompassing both commercial and corporate disputes (including shareholder disputes and breaches of fiduciary duties by directors), construction-related cases, professional negligence, defamation and general advisory work. Melvin's practice has also included significant arbitration work, both domestic and international, including arbitration proceedings involving such diverse jurisdictions as the USA, UK, Vietnam and Iran.
Melvin was called to the Singapore Bar in 1999, after graduating with an LL.B. from King's College, London, where he was awarded the Laws Exhibition Prize twice, as well as the Harold Potter Prize in the Law of Property and the Barlow Lyde & Gilbert Prize in Tort. Apart from a sound grasp of the law, Melvin brings an extremely hands-on approach to dealing with each individual case, and believes that a lawyer best serves his client by providing efficient, effective and commercially workable solutions, tailor-made to fit each individual client's needs.
