Derek’s field of specialisation is in the legal arena of construction, engineering and infrastructure law. Having devoted his entire legal career to building up his expertise in this area, he has extensive experience which ranges from drafting construction contracts, to advising clients in disputes and arbitrations in construction projects. Derek’s practice is multi-jurisdictional and he has advised on projects in the region (including Hong Kong, Taiwan, Malaysia, Thailand, Brunei, Myanmar, Vietnam and the Philippines) and further afield (from Sri Lanka and India, to Pakistan and the Republic of Palau). His experience includes port projects, road networks, mass rapid transit systems, airports, cargo terminals and petrochemical plants. Derek also advises on the administration of various construction and engineering related projects.
